CGI Certificate in Company Secretarial Practice & Share Registration Practice

This CGI certificate programme is aimed at those working within the company secretarial department or within share registration and provides students with knowledge and  practical understanding of the key areas within their roles. 

The programme consists of four modules as follows:

  • Module 1: The Company
    Includes: the role of the company secretary; types of companies; incorporation; stakeholders of a company; the board of directors.
  • Module 2: Governance and Compliance
    Includes: the law and regulation that affects companies; corporate governance; statutory registers, records and returns; the regulation of listed companies; annual report and accounts.
  • Module 3: Meetings
    Includes: types of company meetings; notice; agenda; quorum; voting; resolutions; minutes; board meetings; board committees.
  • Module 4: Share Registration Practice
    Includes: shares and share capital; share registration; share transfers; dividends; employee share schemes.

Course Duration: 9 months

Course start date: October 2024 (exact date TBC)

Course Structure: The course involves a combination of live online lectures, e-learning and private study using the dedicated study manual and other recommended reading. 

Level: This is a Level 4 qualification, set at the same academic level as a first year undergraduate degree.

Assessment:

  • Module 4: Share Registration Practice
